INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION AND CARE
IMPORTANT: Belore firing this gun. be sure 10 dean Ihoroughly inside of banel of all grease
or 01 any obstmetion.
CLEANING AND LUBRICATING:

thumb piece at forward end as far as it will go and remove bofl. Push a brass cleaning brush
saturated with solvent through barrel Irom breech 'end artd wipe dry. For sloring. on .thor.
oughly with patch saturated with gun oil.
TO REPLACE BOLT: Align boU as >;hown in ligure No. I with mating surfaces on bolt in line
witb ma1lng surfaceS on rec"j"er. Push bolt f orwcrd against tension of thumb pif>Ce on re-
ceiver.

Extractor should be positioned over lugs a1 fronl and rear 01 bolt. Figure 6 shows extractor
out 01 alignmeni with lugs. Figure 7 shows correct alignment 01 extractor.
TO MAKE GUN SAFE: Salety is toccHed at rear of bolt. The action is locked when safety
le"er is in rais"d position. See Figure 3. Safety is off when lever is in horizontal position (to
the left). Soe Figure 4. Safely can
be
applied only when action Is cocked. Always put on
safe when carrying a loaded guu.
TO RELEASE SAFETY: Push salety 10 left and down rhorizontal position) and gun is readi'
10 fire,
TO LOAD CHAMBER: Raise tbe bolt handle <rnfar up as il will go and draw straight back
10 rear as lor as possible. The cartridge is then placed in the magazine. THE RIFLE CAN.
NOT BE LOADED BY DROPPING THE CARTRIDGE DIRECTLY INTO THE CHAMBER. The
cartridge must be placed as tar back over the magazine as it will go and musl be pushed
down into the maga?jne where it is cough! and 'held by right edge of receiver. See Figure
5. Pushing the bolt forward will load Ihe chamber and gun will be ready 10 lire.
TO LOAD THE MAGAZINE: Follow Ihe same procedure as in loading the chamber
The
magazine capacity is fi"e carlridq"s. OJrtridges are held in slaggered column.
TO OPERATE: When gun is fired raiSe the boll handle and pull back"sharply to the rear CIS
far as it wm go. Push the holt forward and the boll handle down 10 load the gun. Always
push safety on safe 10,prev.ent accidentcJ! liring.
TO REMOVE LOADED SHELL FROM CHAMBER WITHOUT fIRING: With solety in off (hori-
zontal) position. laise the bolt handle and pull back the boll sharply. This will extra,,:! and
ejecl the unfimd cartridge. Hold tho Jeft hand over tho loading pOri 10 catch the untired
cartridge.
TO REMOVE LOADED

FROM MAGAZINE:
Push down cartridges in magazine to
clear lorward port 01 bolt. IPUsh boll lorward Imake suie n"o cartridge haS been led into
chamber) and lock by turning down the boll handle. Turn gun so that trigger guard is up.
Press in catch at rear end 01 floor plate and slide plate to the rear. This will release floor
plate which will come out. The cartridges
will then drop out into the hand.
TO REPLACE THE FLOOR PLATE: Inserl the magazine Jonower and spring into the maga-
zine .opening. Have the hole in Ihe !loor plate toward the rear, Engage the front end first and
then the rear end oven the post. Then slide forward until plate clicks to lock. Make SLue the
magazine tollower is properly centered.
TO REMOVE SrOCK FROM ACTION: Remove boll. Turn gun with trigger guard up. Re-
move Hoar plale and magazine follower. Remove two screws holding trigger guard to
action.

Trigger guard may then be removed by grasping lIigger
guard and pulling oul.
TO REPLACE THE ACTION IN THE STOCK: Inser! the trigger guard in the stock with the
floor piate assemb1y removed (floor plate and follower and spring). Then replace the acllon
and barrel in the stock. Put in the two s"rews and lighten. Short sctew goes in front. Aher
making sure these screws are tight replace !loa: plate and boll.
